Free
Century of Stories word cloud

A day before the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, 1918 you can join us at Harborough Museum to learn about the history of World War One.

Experts John Dilley and Pat Perkins will be available to speak about their research and children can learn all about life during World War One.

Family activities

Learn what it was like to live during World War One. Try on a replica gas mask, listen to someone who lived through the Christmas Truce, hear the Last Post and find out about animals in the war.

John Dilley

John Dilley, former Harborough Mail editor, has been chronicling Harborough’s connections to World War One by exploring what local papers at the time said. John will be on hand all day to talk to people about his research, including showing an archive of contemporary newspapers. Read some of John’s articles online in the Harborough Mail.

Pat Perkins

Pat Perkins, member of Market Harborough Historical Society and volunteer in the Local Studies centre, has recently released a book of her research on World War One and the local area. Get the opportunity to speak with Pat from 1pm to 4pm about her research and knowledge of local studies resources.
