November 26 All day
W. Symington & Co was founded in 1827 in Market Harborough. William Symington started out in a small shop on Adam & Eve Street with tea and vegetables, until 1840 where he acquired a shop on Church Street.
As the company grew, it invented different types of food, such as Pea Flour which was taken on Captain Scott’s Antarctic expedition in 1904.
Take a look at the history of Symington Foods and their famous soups. Why not try finding an old Symington’s recipe book online and recreating an authentic recipe. Make sure a grown-up helps you.
You could also choose an item which takes your fancy and try to recreate the packaging
- you could draw it
- make a 3D cut-out
- decorate an empty toilet roll
- decorate a cardboard box
