Shared Reading Group

Our Shared Reading Group began in November 2015, it is run by volunteers who work with The Reader Organisation, who pioneered the idea of a Shared Reading Group.

So what is a Shared Reading Group? Rather than read a book alone to discuss in the group, a Shared Reading Group shares the reading experience as group leaders read aloud to the group, they may read short stories, extracts from novels or poetry. Thoughts and experiences are shared; personal and social connections are made.

The Shared Reading Group is growing and going from strength to strength, new members are always welcome and there’s no pressure for anyone to read or even speak because simply listening to the literature and the other group members can be a powerful stimulant. The group leader seeks to create an atmosphere of lively collaboration.

The Shared Reading Group runs every Tuesday at 2pm during term time. Please check with the library for times and dates during school holidays.
