Harborough Museum is an Accredited Museum which means that it meets the standards of Arts Council England’s national scheme for the way that museums look after their collections and make them accessible for the public.
Harborough Museum’s collections are cared for and managed by the staff of Leicestershire County Council. The Market Harborough Historical Society loans its collection to the County Council for display and use in the museum.
Most of the objects in the collection have been donated by local people, groups, businesses and organisations. Only a very few have been purchased by the museum.
We rely on these kind gifts to make sure that the museum continues to tell the changing story of Market Harborough and its surroundings.
